Formed in 1970 by Dewey Bunnell, Gerry Beckley and Dan Peek, America broke through with their 1971 debut and the single "A Horse with No Name," which reached No. 1 in 1972. They followed with hits including "Ventura Highway" and "Sister Golden Hair" and have released numerous albums and compilations over several decades. America won the Grammy Award for Best New Artist, were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame (2006), and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (2012).
