About

Todd Rundgren is an influential American musician, songwriter, and producer known for his genre-hopping musical styles, from power-pop to progressive rock. Rising to fame in the '70s with hits like "Hello It's Me," he also became a sought-after producer for artists like Meat Loaf and XTC.

Rundgren quickly garnered attention with his first solo albums before releasing the 1972 magnum opus Something/Anything? On this double album, he played all the instruments, sang all the vocal parts, and handled his own production. The record launched hits like "I Saw The Light" and "Hello It's Me". Seeking to maintain his chops as a guitar player and explore progressive rock, he formed the experimental band Utopia in the mid-1970s.

Alongside his own releases, Rundgren became a highly sought-after producer and audio engineer. He is credited with shaping some of the most iconic albums in rock history, including Meat Loaf’s multi-platinum Bat Out of Hell, The Band's Stage Fright, Badfinger's Straight Up, and the New York Dolls' self-titled debut.
