Marston Point is a grassy overlook and event lawn on the west side of Balboa Park near Eighth Avenue, known for skyline views and picnic space. The City permits the site for special events up to 200 people, and the broader Marston Point/West Mesa area has hosted major community gatherings such as San Diego Pride activities. Named for civic leader George W. Marston, it sits adjacent to Bankers Hill’s dining and park-adjacent promenades.

City-operated Marston Point lot off Balboa Dr (west mesa). Balboa Park now uses a paid system; Marston Point is a Level 2 general lot with resident-verified free parking options and daily fees for nonresidents via the City’s payment portal.

Public transit

MTS bus routes 3 and 120 serve stops at 4th/5th Ave & Laurel St on the park’s west side; from there it’s a short walk into Balboa Park toward Marston Point. Additional service along Park Blvd on the east side includes Route 7 and Rapid 215, with trolley connections downtown (e.g., Fifth Avenue/City College).
